Then come out and join like‐minded Chicagoans on Wednesday, February 26th, enjoy soothing refreshments and the socially spiritual renewal offered by Krishna Kaur, a world‐renowned dynamic, heart centered Yoga teacher. Ms. Kaur began studying with Yogi Bhajan in 1970 and has passionately taught the art and science of Kundalini Yoga and Self Awareness for 40 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her teaching in Africa, Mexico, and urban, inner city neighborhoods throughout the United States. A master teacher trainer of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, she also conducts socially‐conscious and personal spiritual workshops in Canada, Europe, and Latin America.
This family-friendly, FREE-and-open-to-the-public event, hosted by I Grow Chicago and the Kusanya Cafe, will feature Master Yoga Teacher Krishna Kaur ‐ teaching some of her specialized Yoga and Life Affirmation techniques in Englewood on Wednesday, February 26 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at the Kusanya Cafe (825 W. 69th Street). Krishna Kaur is certified by the 3HO Foundation and the Kundalini Research Institute as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Trainer of both Level I and II. She is the regional coordinator for 3HO Africa, which unites Kundalini Yoga in Africa. Krishna also founded and runs Y.O.G.A. for Youth, a non‐profit dedicated to training yoga teachers to work with at‐risk youth and creating yoga programs in schools and juvenile facilities.
Krishna opened the first yoga center in South Central Los Angeles and continues to train yoga teachers, teach workshops, and bring yoga to the underserved populations throughout the world. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
I Grow Chicago is a non‐profit, 501‐c‐3 corporation offering people of all ages, scientific evidence based educational and cultural programs including yoga, meditation, physical movement, and art. These programs have already improved the lives of hundreds of community members by empowering them with tools and opportunities for self‐expression, self‐development, and cultural identity. Mindfulness, the art of controlling your own thoughts, is a technique used in both yoga and meditation that has strong scientific evidence proving that it is a way of changing the neurobiology of your own brain and improving both mental and physical health. They teach these skills for free to assist local schoolchildren and community residents learn conflict resolution, anger management, and self‐regulation as a way of preventing conflict and violence.
