October 23 – 27, 2013, Toronto, Canada
with Krishna Kaur
A 40-hour course that prepares you to work with at-risk youth using Yoga and Meditation techniques.
Your Own Greatness Affirmed (Y.O.G.A.) Inc.
Mission Statement: To provide urban youth with tools of self-discovery that foster hope, discipline, and respect for self, others and community.
The Y.O.G.A. for Youth Program incorporates traditional tools and meditative practices that help young people manage stress, anxiety, loneliness and anger. Our goal is to tap the intuitive wisdom and potential of each young person.
Why should I participate?
“I loved the Y.O.G.A. for Youth training. What I expected I got, an amazing Kundaliini yoga teacher and course. What surprised me was Krishna Kaur’s capacity to include people from all walks of life and to teach us how to do the same with grace. I thought I would learn how to work with young people. I learned that and much more. I learned how to incorporate into my own practice and classes a deeper understanding of complete acceptance of the other person, and to challenge with compassion.
“I would encourage anyone who would like to deepen their capacity to work with others not like themselves to take this course. It will inspire love and acceptance of the other within and without. Plus Krishna will sing, play the guitar and get you to dance. Not to be missed. I loved it. Thanks again Nirmal for bringing Krishna Kaur to Toronto.”
Who should participate:
If you have a desire to teach in the Y.O.G.A. for Youth Program.
If you interact with youth as a front line worker, counselor, teacher, yoga teacher, artist, dancer, or martial artist.
If you want to service your community while deepening your personal practice.
Tools and practices involve:
Yoga exercises and postures that systematically work with the body, breath and sound, enabling students to relax and achieve mental tranquility.
Cultivating increased self-esteem and self-awareness through specific stress-relieving exercises.
Offering alternate responses to psychological pressures and physical challenges through the promotion of self-control and peaceful creativity.
